We are happy to inform you that the new mini laptop from Lenovo combines both high portability and great performance in the so called Lenovo ThinkPad X1. Reaching another thickness standard, developers from Lenovo come with a 21.5 mm thick 13 incher. For more on this topic, see Lenovo ThinkPad X1 – ultraportable or ultraperformance?! But don’t think that Lenovo has neglected the level of performance, because you will find inside an Intel i5 platform which will not disappoint you.
On the outside, the ThinkPad X1 stayed faithful to the Lenovo pattern: simple, black, “oldish” case made out of carbon fiber. Opening the lid, you will find the same red Trackpoint in the middle of the keyboard and the metallic ThinkPad logo on the palm-rest. Only on the netbook’s display we will see a difference within the Gorilla Glass finish covering the 13.3 inch screen, therefore assuring the best protection for your display and still enjoying every single pixel. Also when powered up, under the lid the device will reveal a fancy waterproof LED illuminated keyboard, perfect for texting in the dark and keeping any water accidents away from your device.
When we stated that the ThinkPad X1 was developed as an ultraportable device, it was because of its thickness of only 21.5 mm, which is not something common for Lenovo laptops. Also, under this slim case hides a 6 cell battery ready to offer you up to 8 hours of usage without needing a power plug, therefore you understand now, that being able to carry around with you a 13 incher with these features is a huge plus.
Because developers from Lenovo always put performance first, the latest Lenovo ThinkPad X1 runs on an Intel i5, 2.5GHz dual core processor. Next to it there’s are 8GBs of RAM and an up to 160GB SSD, therefore the processor enjoys the full support in this area and it will be hard to reach the upper limit of usability, when working on this device.
Just as we expected, the price is according to its features: somewhere around $2000. If you want to have a top mini laptop with waterproof keyboard, Gorilla Glass finish on the screen, Intel i5 processor, all packed in a 21.5mm thick case, you have to agree that it a fair price to pay.
