Used products are notoriously trouble filled. Buying a used car is like Russian roulette, you never know when you are going have to bite the bullet. Buying a used laptop is no different. You are paying a fair bit of money for something you will be taking with you where ever you go so you don’t want something that is constantly going to be giving you problems.
This is the main reason why you shouldn’t buy used. You never know what you are going to get. No matter which laptop you choose, new or old, there is inherent risk involved that something will go wrong. But when you buy used you compound the inherent risk involved with electronics with whatever abuse the previous user or users did to it.
Price is another big reason why you shouldn’t buy used. The main reason people buy a used laptop is so that they can get a better price that they could have when it was new. However true this may be you don’t have to resort to it. New laptops are so cheap, in fact you can buy many laptops under 500 dollars that are brand new. This means that for a price range that was previously a refurbished and used laptop only price range, now you can get the newest laptops and netbooks in the same range. There is no longer any reason to buy a used laptop.
If you end up going through with a purchase of a used laptop you can get burned again on the transaction. Most places you buy used laptops from aren’t from the manufacturer, they are through sites that act as a middle man and don’t care quite as much if the item you are bidding on is actually exactly what the listing says. So make sure you can look at what other people have said about the seller before committing to buying from that person.
