Reading the papers here about the Bertie the current Irish Prime minister is interesting. Yeah, for my sins, I am British, really Scottish! Anyway leaving my dislike of being labeled British to one side for now – in the UK when a politician has a whiff of scandal around him regarding money it is not usually long before he is gone. But this man Bertie – boy can he hang on.
I am not going to re-hash all the stuff from the newspapers – but question just one thing, as it does not seem to be anywhere near reasonable. During the early 1990′s Bertie was head of the Treasury – like the chancellor – but he did not have a bank account and therefore kept his money all in cash at home – one presumes under the mattress.
I don’t believe this – how could someone, someone who has nothing to hide, in a position like that not have a bank account and hide away somewhere in the region of £50,000 at home in cash. Really believeable.

Myself and every other Irish person (and I’d probably include some of his family in this assessment) is ashamed of this man. Only in little ol’ Ireland would you get away with the stuff that this disgusting, despicable man carried out.
And he has the audacity and the cheek to attempt to run for President of Ireland? If that happens I will be packing my bags and moving to Glasgow permanently.
