Dublin Ireland Dublin

Dublin, the capital of Ireland, has been my adopted home for more than ten years now. And since I spend all day writing travel information for places where I only visit, I thought I might share some of my favorite Dublin sites and some other places that I visit outside the city.

Dublin rocks. And that is official. It has over the last ten years become a 24/7 city. The streets in the city centre are often busier at two in the morning than 2 in the afternoon, so if you have come here to party you will have lots of opportunity. If you are looking for a more sedate time, touring and seeing the sights – well Dublin has loads, enough to keep anyone busy for a week anyway.

Don’t come to Dublin expecting anything to be fairly priced. It is the most expensive city now in Europe, so bear that in mind before stepping off the plane and being shocked by your first taxi fare. Nothing is cheap, from the Dublin hotels, to food, and surprisingly you will pay more for a Guinness here than most other places in the world.

However the city is friendly and fun. People talk to each other and it is easy to strike up a conversation in any of the cities bars. The city is still one of the safest place in Europe to visit, but don’t wander anyway into an area if you feel threatened there – trust your senses.
