In case you did not know Bertie Ahern is the Irish Prime Minister, for quite some time now he has been accused of taking money from various sources. It has been a source of great amusment to me to listen to his explanations – one goes along these lines:
I cash my wages check -cause while being the minister of finance for the whole country I did not have a bank account – and then I changed some of this Irish money into Sterling – then I sent my assistant to lodge the money into bank accounts in my children’s names converting the self same sterling back into Irish pounds. Did I do anything illegal – of course not, I can do what I want with my money.
And the really cool thing about all this is the Irish people keep voting him back in.
